“There can be no greater gift than that of giving one’s time and energy to help others without expecting anything in return.” Nelson Mandela
This Nelson Mandela quote beautifully captures the spirit of the 18th of July, which has come to be known and celebrated globally as Nelson Mandela Day. A day where everyone is urged to dedicate 67 minutes of their time and energy towards helping others. This is to honour the 67 years of personal sacrifice that Nelson Mandela, affectionately known as Tata, devoted to this country and its freedom. To honour this philosophy, our team at Tamela spent the day at Qhobosheane Primary School, which is a school located in Diepkloof, Soweto. Our 67 minutes were dedicated to the children of this school and community. Tata famously advocated for children’s rights and spoke about the importance of education as a tool for world change. These are the sentiments that made spending Mandela Day with the children of Qhobosheane Primary School very fitting.
